2008 - the Year of YouthEMBASSY'S EVENTS AND PRESS-RELEASES: Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom sign Memorandum on the British Council Activity in Uzbekistan 31.08.2009 On August 19 this year the signing ceremony of Memorandum between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the British Council activity in Uzbekistan was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tashkent. Photo exhibition «Uzbekistan – in the eyes of children» 08.10.2008 Photo exhibition «Uzbekistan – in the eyes of children» was held at the Royal College of Art in London, 3-7 October 2008. The organizers of this unique project are the Fund «Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan» and British NGO «Pro Art & Co» with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London and the British Council. Inauguration of Oxus / Amantaytau Goldfields (AGF) Scholarship Foundation 26.06.2008 On 26 June 2008 at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London, the AGF / Oxus Gold Scholarship Foundation was officially inaugurated. The Foundation was established by British company Oxus Gold plc in cooperation with Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) and University of Westminster in London, The event was honoured by the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent GCVO who accepted the appointment as the first Patron of the Foundation. Briefing “Social-economic development and Year of Youth in Uzbekistan” 11.03.2008 The Embassy organized a special briefing “Social-economic development and Year of Youth in Uzbekistan” with participation of over 50 of official, business and academic representatives of the United Kingdom, as well as diplomatic corps of London.
