Ambassador of Uzbekistan presented Letters of Credence to HM the King Harald V of Norway
On May 6, 2010 HE Mr Otabek Akbarov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Court of Saint James’s, presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty the King Harald V of Norway accrediting him as Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Norway with residence in London. During the solemn audience there was a brief conversation about current priorities of two states, prospects of bilateral relations, as well as international issues of mutual interest.
Norway recognized the Independence of Uzbekistan on 2 January, 1992, the diplomatic relations between two countries were established on June 10 that year. In August 2009, a delegation headed by the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway Ms Elisabeth Walaas visited Uzbekistan and had meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Ministry of Health and several other organizations.
In November 2009, during a trip to Uzbekistan, a Norwegian business delegation headed by the Director of the Agency «Innovation Norway» Mr Erik Welle-Watne met with a number of Government’s departments and enterprises in order to explore opportunities for closer trade and investment cooperation, as well as visited the "Navoi” Free Industrial Economic Zone.
