51-th International Spring Fair - the largest annual charity event of the International Social Services (ISS), was held at the City Hall of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) in London.
This event, which has been organized since 1959, is traditionally attended by representatives of nearly 100 diplomatic missions accredited in the UK, as well as local charity funds and organizations. This year the Fair’s guests of honor were Princess Alexandra, who is the patron of the British branch of the organization, Mayor of RBKC Timothy Coleridge and the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps Charles Gray.
Thousands of people visit a two-day Fair every year and this event is one of the most interesting and attracting the attention of citizens and guests of the British capital, providing them an opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of participating countries.
The Embassy, as in previous years, actively participated and prepared a national stand "Uzbekistan", which was placed in the main hall of the municipality near the stands of Syria, Czech Republic, Peru, Egypt, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Poland, Kuwait and Estonia.
Guests were shown the national symbols of Uzbekistan, as well as the products of craftsmen and artisans – ceramics, gold embroidery, costumes, miniatures, silk scarves and fabrics, colorful Suzanes, dolls.
Visitors of the stand of Uzbekistan were offered pamphlets and brochures about our country, they were offered dried fruits and sweets. Many noted the brightness and variety of the exhibited products, asked about our country, expressed a desire to visit the world-famous cities - Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. During this time we have new friends who come each year to our stand for ceramics, skullcaps and silk scarfs. Visitors also had the opportunity to watch performances of music and dance groups, to participate in the drawing of valuable prizes and lotteries.
