“Fund Forum presents Uzbekistan” in the United Kingdom
On September 14 the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London organized a reception to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence at the Grand Ballroom of the Langham Hotel. Over 200 people, including the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the Parliament, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, business community and media, heads of diplomatic missions as well as members of the British-Uzbek Society attended the event.
During the reception was organized a presentation of the new book-album “Fund Forum presents Uzbekistan” published by the Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan, as well as an extended photographic exhibition featuring works that appear in the album. The album contains works by local and foreign photographers. It includes sections such as “Tashkent, the Fortress City”, “Samarkand, Pearl of the Orient”, “Bukhara the Noble, Bukhara the Saintly” and “Khiva, the Divine Daughter of the Amu-Darya”.
The visitors showed a keen interest in the photoalbum and exhibition, sharing their impressions.
HRH Princess Natalya Eromina Youssoupoff, Vice-president, Authors and Publicists International Association: “The traditional reception in honor of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day is a remarkable event. Once again, we are amazed by the hospitality of our Uzbek friends. I would like to note the wonderful photo exhibition was held as part of this event. This is a great opportunity to view works by celebrated talents such as Andre Rau and several Uzbek photographers who demonstrated through their works the splendor of ancient Oriental culture which can be seen in Khiva, Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent. For some guests here these photos opened a new country. It is as if the photos of architectural masterpieces we see here bond Great Britain and Uzbekistan with silk threads”.
Alla Bulyanskaya, Owner and Director General of the “Alla Bulyanskaya Gallery”: “I had a great pleasure viewing the photo exhibition “Fund Forum presents Uzbekistan”, which enabled me to rediscover your beautiful country. Uzbekistan has long been famous for its talents who give the uniqueness to your art and culture. I can firmly say that the exhibition and the book itself have left no one indifferent, and will certainly promote the country's image among the British and the international community.
Our gallery has been working on the professional art market of Britain since 1999. We present contemporary art, original works (paintings, graphics, sculpture), of the world's most recognized artists, as well as interesting artists from the CIS. We would be happy to establish contacts with the Fund Forum and jointly implement the exhibition projects and other cultural events in Britain with the publication of catalogs and materials for art”.
Kath Rees, Chief Executive, The Haven Wolverhampton, UK: “We are impressed by the reception marking Uzbekistan’s Independence Day in London as well as by the beautiful cultural programme. The photo exhibition is particularly interesting. The new book “Fund Forum presents Uzbekistan” and the photos on display illustrate the ancient architecture of Uzbekistan and its rich history. We are looking forward to traveling to Uzbekistan in late October to attend the upcoming “Style.Uz” Art Week in Tashkent”.
