“Uzbek Culture Evening” in honour of the Olympic team of Uzbekistan

On August 4, 2012 the “Uzbek Culture Evening” in honour of the National Olympic team of Uzbekistan took place at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London. It was organized jointly with the Fund “Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan” with support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by members of the Olympic delegation of our country, representatives of International and National Olympic committees, International federations of various sports, British Kurash Association, British-Uzbek Society, business and cultural circles of the United Kingdom, as well as heads and diplomats of a number of embassies in London.

Distinguished athletes from Uzbekistan were presented souvenirs with sincere wishes for continued success in their lives, as well as new sportive achievements.

The cultural program of the evening consisted of the original photographic exhibition “The Fund Forum presents Uzbekistan”, which had previously been successfully demonstrated in a number of countries around the world. There was a performance by musical groups from Uzbekistan “Bojalar” and “Sakhro”. Guests were offered a wide range of dishes of Uzbek cuisine prepared with products specially brought for the event from Tashkent.

“The atmosphere of the evening was very friendly and hospitable, - said the Executive Director of the British NGO “The Haven Wolverhampton” Kate Rees, - talented young performers from Uzbekistan gave so much emotion, great music, brilliant people, we enjoyed a combination of national and modern”.

“A very good evening - the General Secretary of British Kurash Association Paul Sawyer commented, - I was especially pleased to meet members of the Olympic team of Uzbekistan. A photographic exhibition was a kind of journey for me to your beautiful country. My desire to visit Uzbekistan and see everything once more with my own eyes increased”.

“Uzbek Culture Evening” in London was organized by the initiative of the Fund Forum, with which our Embassy has been cooperating for several years. The Fund Forum is the biggest nongovernmental organization in Uzbekistan which carries out projects to support science, culture, education and sports. The Fund Forum brings to the world public the objective information about the unique national culture, rich historical heritage and diversity of contemporary art in Uzbekistan. Similarly, it promotes public awareness of Uzbekistan with the trends in world culture. The Fund Forum pays a great attention to bringing together diplomatic and public institutions for establishing social and humanitarian ties among countries and different national unities.
