Spring is always an exciting time for those in cloudy London, and for the Society this is a busy time. This year especially, the month of March was fun and exciting, and packed with events.
On March 18, the Cambridge University Central Asia Forum hosted its annual Navruz Celebration, with a festive concert program from the various central asian countries. On the 19th of March, the British-Uzbek Society’s youth wing participated in the annual Central Asian Spring Festival at University College London - a showcase of the diversity of cultures of the region, with dancing, food and a cultural exhibition in the agenda.
On the 22nd, the Embassy of Uzbekistan held its own celebratory reception, dedicated to Navruz, with a fascinating performance from renowned Uzbek singer Sevara Nazarkhan, and traditional Uzbek dishes like Plov, shashlik and even sumalak. And finally on the 27th of March, the EBRD Asian Network hosted its own Navruz Celebrations at the EBRD HQ, with a theatre program, and a crafts bazaar.
