Briefing at the Embassy on the 60th Anniversary of Adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with presentation of “Investment for Future” book

A briefing devoted to the 60th Anniversary of Adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was held in the Embassy of Uzbekistan on 9th May 2008. It was attended by representatives of official, business, public and analytical circles of the United Kingdom, international organizations and diplomatic corps.
Detailed information about the President’s Decree, dated 1 May 2008, on the Action Program dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of Adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as its main provisions were presented at the briefing.
Participants emphasized the scale and well-preparedness of the events included in the Program.
It is noteworthy that the Decree was issued in support of United Nations Secretary General’s message on the occasion of Human Rights Day and in an effort to further improve the system of institutional and legislative measures aimed at ensuring reliable protection of human rights and liberties in Uzbekistan.
According to the participants, the adoption of the Special Program is another acknowledgment of the country’s intention to follow the selected democratic path of development, adherence to universally recognized values and norms, reflected in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and readiness to actively interact with the international community in this direction.
New book under title “Investment for Future” specially published for “Year of Youth” in Uzbekistan and containing all necessary information about reforms in education sphere was also presented during this event.
