The Embassy in collaboration with Fund Forum of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan and the British Council organized a trip of two Uzbek embroiderers to Glasgow, Scotland to participate at the exhibition “Colours of the Silk Road: Suzani embroideries from Uzbekistan”, Burrell Collection.
Two winners of “Asrlar Sadosi” festival, held in Shakhrisabz – Mrs. Zulayho Karimova from Bukhara region, and Mrs. Ruhsoraoy Turakulova from Navoi region, directly demonstrated their skills to British public and guests of Glasgow. The work of Uzbek craftswomen aroused genuine interest among art lovers, especially because of their ornamental motifs, elegancy and colorful patterns showing rich cultural and historical heritage of Uzbekistan.
During the exhibition, the Uzbek craftswomen demonstrated not only master classes, but also told to many visitors of this unique exhibition about traditions, family and spiritual values of Uzbek people, respect for women and aspiration for prosperity in our Motherland.
Large number of visitors from different regions of Britain attended this Burrell Collection’s exhibition and were happy to learn more about people, culture and history of Uzbekistan.
