Photo exhibition «Uzbekistan – in the eyes of children»
3-7 October 2008
Photo exhibition «Uzbekistan – in the eyes of children» was held at the Royal College of Art in London, 3-7 October 2008. The organizers of this unique project are the Fund «Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan» and British NGO «Pro Art & Co» with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London and the British Council.
Vivid projects and activities of the Fund Forum in different countries around the world introduced to the international community various facets of culture and arts of Uzbekistan that enhance mutual trust and understanding between peoples.
The current photo exhibition «Uzbekistan – in the eyes of children» is designed to acquaint British public and visitors with Uzbekistan through the child eyes. Indeed, ordinary children took a role of photographer. They are pupils, children from the Charity Homes «Mehribonlik» and boarding schools, as well as participants of the Centers for Children's Creativity «Forum of Yangi Avlod» and «Eski Shakhar», who were successful in different competitions and events.
During September 2008, about 30 young participants of the project, with only some supervision of professionals, caught moments of everyday life of their coevals, relatives and friends, home town. From the thousands of images, there were selected 100 works for the exhibition. These pictures together with brief statements of children about their work were included to the catalogue of the exhibition as well.
In November 2008, the same exhibition was demonstrated in well-known “Lighthouse” hall in North Kensington, as a part of official presentation for the next Pro Art & Co project – “London – in the eyes children”.
Number of partners, including Shell, Worley Parsons, Oxus Gold Plc, Uzbekinvest-AIG and others supported the project.
