Young Uzbek football players defeated their coevals from London club “Chelsea”
On August 14, 2009 Uzbekistan’s youth football team won over the youth team of the London club “Chelsea” with the score 1:0. The match took place at the training base of “Chelsea” in Cobham – one of the leading in Britain in terms of its size and number of highest class training fields.
During the first half of the match the teams did not score any goals, though both of them had a number of opportunities to do so. In the middle half goalkeeper of Uzbekistan national team Donier Usmanov saved his gates after a severe kick by “Chelsea” defender. In other case, a real moment was at the gates of English club. Sunnatilla Mamadaliyev led the team captain Sherzodbek Karimov for a rendez-vous with “Chelsea” goalkeeper. Sherzodbek was aiming the gates by one-touch kick, but the goalkeeper was on right place and did not let the ball into a grid of gates.
At the beginning of the second half Sanat Shihov shot the ball into the opponent's gates by an accurate and powerful kick from the penalty area. After this goal the hosts did their utmost to equalize the score, but our team’s defense was inaccessible, and counterattacks - fast and dangerous. As result, the goal of Shihov was victorious.
The youth team of Uzbekistan was in the UK for training. Before the match with “Chelsea”, they played another game with «Fulham» team, which ended with the score 1:2 in favor of English club.
