Italian experts about achievements of Uzbekistan in the field of agriculture
Business and expert circles of Italy, in an interview with the Jahon Information Agency shared their comments on the achievements of Uzbekistan in the agricultural sector and the participation of our country in the international exhibition Expo Milano 2015.
Professor of the University of Trieste, Chairman of the Association of Friendship "Italy-Uzbekistan", Rocco Abram:
- As it's known, the main theme of the World Expo is food security. It is important to note that Uzbekistan pays great attention to this area. The participation of the republic in this exhibition became a logical continuation of the work done in this direction.
I was very pleased to visit the pavilion of your country, where it is widely represented a huge potential of the agricultural sector. It should be noted that the national stand is decorated beautifully, it perfectly conveys the concept of food. In comparison with many other similar sites there are a wide range of food, which is famous for its sunny Uzbekistan.
One of the main tasks of Expo is to inform public with information on limited natural resources and food in the world. I think that in this respect your country can serve as an example of careful and rational use of water resources, which are indispensable element in the development of agriculture.
Ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan are aimed at the deep diversification of agriculture and full provision of basic kinds of food, as well as achievement of high competitiveness of fruit and vegetable products in the global market. In this regard, I am delighted by the far-sightedness of modernization of this sector, directed for many years to come.
Director of AQ International, Salvatore Cacciola:
- Expo Milano 2015 opens up great opportunities in the economic and agricultural spheres, including in expansion of contacts between business circles of our countries and farmers.
After examining a number of materials on the development of agriculture in Uzbekistan over the years of independence, I want to note the fact that country has implemented considerable measures to diversify the sector of agricultural production, expansion of concessional lending to agricultural production and infrastructure construction. And this of course inspires respect.
I was impressed that, since 1997, agriculture in Uzbekistan shows steady positive growth rate of 6-7% per year. As you know, over the past few years, the country's GDP is growing rapidly and this figure exceeds 8%. Agricultural sector obtains a serious place in economic development.
