SCO makes a worthy contribution to consolidation of region's peace and stability
The international prestige of Uzbekistan is constantly growing due to the dynamic development in all spheres, carried out by our state peace policy and consistent efforts to achieve security and stability in the region.
In our country, steadily going under the leadership of President Islam Karimov on his own path of development, developed a strategic mechanism for achieving the high goals of joining the ranks of the developed states of the world. In this process, Uzbekistan pays special attention to the development of international cooperation, including in the framework of the authoritative international organizations. One of them is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, June 15, 2001 in the Chinese city of Shanghai, has become an influential international organization with a solid position, effective approaches and specific business objectives. The growing influence and authority of this organization in solving urgent problems of global socio-economic and international significance, security, stability and sustainable development in the world of natural causes the growing interest of many states to become full members of the SCO, to be observers at it, as well as dialogue partners.
Since the establishment of the SCO members are Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Mongolia and Belarus take part in the activities of the SCO as an observer, and Turkey, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal have the status of dialogue partners. Over the past period, the SCO member states have done significant work to strengthen relationships based on trust and good-neighborliness and the development of bilateral and multilateral effective partnership in trade, economic, socio-political, scientific and technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres, strengthening of peace and tranquility, providing safety and stability.

SCO attaches priority importance to support and promote regional economic cooperation, financing of joint projects, intensify direct contacts between business people and financial institutions, development of cooperation in such areas as transport, infrastructure, information technology and telecommunications, banking and financial sector. Strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations in the spheres of science, education, innovation, health, agriculture, environment and security is also one of the most important tasks of this international organization.
Effectively there are two permanent bodies of the SCO - the Secretariat is headquartered in Beijing and the Regional Antiterrorist Structure with headquarters in Tashkent. The Secretariat is the executive body of the SCO, provides organizational and technical and information support activities carried out within the organization. The main objectives of the Regional anti-terrorist structure such as the development of measures to strengthen the joint counteraction to terrorism, extremism and separatism, trafficking of drugs and weapons, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, as well as the prevention of threats to international and regional security.
In today's rapidly changing world, no global problem can not be solved by the efforts of only one state. For example, environmental and safety problems require international cooperation. It is also worth noting that in April 2010, the year of the Republic of Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, held an important historical event in the activity of the SCO - during the visit of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General to our country in Tashkent between the Secretariats of the UN and SCO signed a Joint Declaration on cooperation.
The adoption of this important document, marked the beginning of the official UN cooperation and the SCO has created a solid basis for joint efforts in addressing urgent issues.
According to the norms and rules of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, every year SCO chairmanship in turn passes to one of the Member States. On 11 July 2015 the SCO chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
