The visit of a Thailand delegation to Uzbekistan headed by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Affairs Sovanita Kongsiri will promote the future strengthening of collaboration between countries.
Modern Thailand undertakes active steps with a view of forward strengthening their position in the world. The government of the country supports development of mutually advantageous and equal in rights in cooperation with all countries on the basis of the conventional principles and norms of international law.
Our countries develop cooperation in many areas. Political interaction with Uzbekistan is carried out as well within the frameworks of the international organizations. Our countries have close or conterminous views on many issues of modern international relations.
Thailand actively supports strengthening of the international cooperation in questions of a safety of Asia Pacific region (APR) , and also fighting against drugs and drug-dealing. In the recent years the international groups of drug-dealers consider Thailand as the important corridor in transportation of drugs to the world market. In this connection, alongside with speeding up of internal struggle with drug-dealing, the Thai government actively aspires to cooperation with the next states in this direction and the strategic role in this process is played with strengthening regional cooperation within the limits of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The kingdom considers the Central Asia as one of priority directions of the foreign policy and shows interest in the further escalating political and economic interaction with Uzbekistan.
Present visit of the Thai delegation is called to give an impulse to the further development of relations between our countries. The concrete result of the visit to Uzbekistan and the negotiations of S. Kongsiri lead in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs resulted in signing the agreement on cooperation between the Ministries for Foreign Affairs of two countries. It is assumed, that the given document will allow foreign policy departments of two countries to strengthen and consistently increase the relations in other spheres representing mutual interest.
It is necessary to note that Uzbekistan is actively participating in integrating in the collaboration dialogue (CDA) in Asia, initiated by Thailand. At 5-th meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs on CDA which took place in May, 2006 in Doha (Qatar), Uzbekistan has already been accepted as the participant of the dialogue.
The activation of Uzbek-Thai cooperation in humanitarian sphere is observed. With a view of strengthening humanitarian cooperation, revealing of new perspective mutually advantageous projects in the last year the delegation led by the General Director of the Thai Agency on Development of the International Cooperation P. Milintachinda visited Uzbekistan. Within the framework of student exchange programs Uzbek students study in Thailand institutes and universities. A number of experts of a national economy and public health services of Uzbekistan under the same program have passed professional trainings in Bangkok.
