New Horizons of NMMC
Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Complex has proceeded to an active phase of mining complex construction on the base of Zarmitan gold mining zone fields. Today production strategy of the Center is based on several directions of increase of the resource base.

Forecasted resources of the Zarmitan field exceed 100 millions of tons of ore. This is the most significant area of gold holding ores after Muruntau, where ore will be mined by both underground and open air ways. For the first time Zarmitan miners began the digging of inclined shipping shaft with the use of new equipment of Swedish "Atlas Copco" firm. As it has been clarified by UT, works on reconstruction of the hydrometallurgical factory-3, resources base to which are large gold-sulfide Kokpatas and Daugiztau fields, and the construction of Biox Center are still running. Main volume of construction is carried out by construction department of Zarafshan and "Yugprommontage" joint-stock company. Gold mining Center of Uchkuduk, in which ore resources are usually oxidized, during the 2007-2008 year period all resources will be sent for proceeding thrust gold-sulfide ores by using bacterial corrosion of sulfides technology. Specialists forecast that gold mining volume will increase by two, two and a half times, and by four times after the year 2011. Existing Kokpatas, Dautiztau, Adjibugut and Altintau resources base fields on which North ore department is based will provide stable work for MMC-3 for decades.

In the western ore department, that has become a NMMC subdivision four years ago, on the specialists' statement is supposed to deliver new gold fields for industrial processing. Specific task of conducting geological works are determined. Substantial increase of outputted gold on MMC-3 will allow fulfilling their resource base trough delivery of ore from Ziaetdin and Gujumsay fields.

Separate issue for the Center is the definition of the strategy on involving Muruntau field in proceeding of below-line ore resources, which is the main gold ore base of the Center. Particularly NMMC intends to activate construction works of fourth part of the Center, as well as additional block on MMC-3. These two projects will allow involvement of mountain mass of 1.07 billion of tons on 600 meters depth to the work, and to achieve gold production increase in the planned volume by 2010.
