Beer market grows by leaps and bounds
Uzbek-Swedish JV 'Sarbast Plus' on the threshold of the Independence day holiday will place in operation brewery in Tashkent at the cost of 54.2 millions euro.
As the JV's chief executive David Rivlin said to journalists, building works of the plant with capacity of 1 million of hectalitres of beer a year is finished. According to his estimation, the plant at present works at beta testing will reach planned production capacity in summer 2008.

In the beginning of current week, JV put on sale new local brand - Sarbast of bonus segment in bottles of 0.5 liters that is developed with the help of European technologists.

According to JV, at present the level of localization of JV's 'Sarbast Plus' production is amounted to 60%. At Uzbek plants, in particular, bottles and packages are bein produced.

Financing of plant is carried out through FDI of Baltic Bewerages Holding (BBH), JV's stockholder at the rate of 22,2 millions euro and also to credit financing at the rate of 32 millions euro.

In June 2006 BBH and Uzbek Sarbast Plus founded JV 'Sarbast Plus'. The share of foreign partner in JV is 75,1%, Uzbek side - 24,9%.

According to the official statistics, the capacity of beer production in Uzbekistan since 1999 is constantly increasing at the average rate of 13% a year. Results of 2006 state that the beer production in Uzbekistan has increased in 1,2 times - up to 12,89 millions dal. for whole needs of the market in 30 millions dal.

Today in Uzbekistan there are 10 large brewery companies and many mini-plants are operating as well as bars and pubs that independently "brew" beer. According to Avesta Investment Group investment company the total capacity of beer market in terms of money is estimated at more than US $140 million.
