Central Asia - the center of attention
European Parliament's German deputy, member of the EU delegation for affairs with Asia and Mongolia, Elizabeth Joeggle visited Uzbekistan, where she had a number of meetings in the Oliy Majlis, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uzbekistan Women Committee and other establishments of the Republic.

Germany is currently presiding over the Council of the European Union. According to the "Jahon" News Agency, E. Joeggle noted that "a lot of attention is given to Central Asia, and Uzbekistan in particular. In her opinion, the European Union and Uzbekistan which holds a strategic position in Central Asia need each other. And this cooperation can be demonstrated to the world as exemplary".

E. Joeggle said one of the purposes of her visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan was to participate in the roundtable titled "Uzbekistan on the road of deepening democratic reforms", dedicated to the enhancement of political parties role in the Uzbek society. In this regard, she noted that "the draft laws introduced by President Islam Karimov are a crucial step on the road of societal democratization.
These political novelties are currently on centre of attention of political and expert groups in different countries of the world".

The high-level Deputy underlined that "these draft laws place a high responsibility on political parties and enhance citizen activity in the political life of Uzbekistan. It is beyond doubt that the implementation of these draft laws will solidify the foundations of civil society in Uzbekistan".
