The dynamic development of all industries of the national economy and the latter's large-scale modernization have allowed the Republic to increase its aggregate exports volume by 39 per cent. It needs to note here that 70 per cent of produce exported to different parts of the world is accounted for by finished goods. The remarkable results attained by the country point to the fact that a hitherto raw-stuff adjunct has turned into an independent sovereign state with a multi-layer economic system based on latest technology and equipment.
The most tangible increase in the overall composition of Uzbek exports in the period under review has been recorded in such commodity groups as foodstuffs and consumer goods (2.3-fold), chemicals (1.6-fold), machinery and equipment (1.5-fold).
The Uzbek-Russian joint venture OAO Uzelektroapparat, as one example, which joined the Elektroschit-TM Samara Group last year, has exported a broad range of electro-technical produce to the tune of US $596,000. The Tashkent-based OAO Suvmash has sold US $230,000 worth of modern equipment in Tajikistan.
At the same time, all these manufacturers have successfully fulfilled an important state order to provide domestic water-supply enterprises with mobile electric pumping stations and vertical-drainage pumps. To meet the needs of the agrarian sector, they turned out more than 1,100 high quality water pumps and 280 pumping plants. Another enterprise operating in the Uzbek capital city - OAO Foton has managed to substantially augment its exports volumes over the last few years (from US $612,700 to US $1 million).
Certain positive results in the production of export-oriented goods have been achieved by the following enterprises: OOO Gaunch, the Tashkent Pipe Works and ZAO HO-BAS-TAPO.
Thanks to its active participation in various international exhibitions, HO-BAS-TAPO, specializing in the production of up-to-date universal glass-fiber-reinforced plastic trunk pipelines, has succeeded in forming a portfolio of foreign orders. Today the joint venture exports its output to Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Afghanistan and other countries.
A competent production-development strategy followed by OAO Asbobsoz proves efficient for the expansion of the range of metal-cutting instruments made at the enterprise and intensification of its exports potential. A variety of metal-cutting tools and industrial equipment exported by OAO Asbobsoz are generally sought after by enterprises constructing aircraft and agricultural machinery, automotive plants and the defense-sector enterprises across the CIS. At the present time, this joint-stock company is busy creating a coordination-marketing center to be involved in analyzing and forecasting the demand-and-supply situation in the home and external markets for its produce.
